    Annual Conference 2006

 
   The annual conference of the NCW for 2006 was
   held  at the The Three  Counties Hotel, Hereford, 
   between 7  and 9 October 2006.  

 PROGRAMME

THEME- THE CHANGING ROLES OF MEN AND WOMEN

DAY ONE - SATURDAY,  7 OCTOBER

2.30 p.m.        The Changing Roles of Men and Women in the  family, chaired
                            by Sheila Owen, to include contributions from  The Mother’s
                           Union , Gillian Lockwood, Director of The Midlands
                     Fertility Centre.and a young couple speaking about 
                            Modern Marriage [MORE]

EVENING            Dinner and entertainment on the Theme

DAY TWO - SUNDAY,  8 OCTOBER

9.00 a.m.          RESOLUTIONS  - through the morning, with coffee at 11a.m.    
                          and buffet lunch from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

2.00 p.m.         Men and Women in Public Life, with Marie Birkenhead as Chair.
                           MP’s discuss “Why women don’t stand for election”,
                            “What it’s like for women in parliament”, and
                            “How things could be improved”

6.15 p.m.         CIVIC RECEPTION, Town Hall

EVENING           Conference Dinner and entertainment.

DAY THREE - MONDAY,  9 OCTOBER   

9 a.m.                 Region and Branch Meeting, including short update
                             presentations on current work

11.15 a.m.        How the Changing Roles of Men and Women affect Women in
                              Other Cultures, with Grace Wedekind as Chair.
                             Mashuq Ally,  Head of Equality and Diversity, Birmingham City
                             Council, will speak from the point of view of Britain ’s second
                             City on Birmingham's experience as an integrated 
                             multi-cultural society.

2.00 p.m.           Annual General Meeting
