Branches from one end of the country to the other bring
together women who are interested in a wide variety of issues. Through
branch membership women are able to contribute to the work of the groups, and work with affiliated societies and other
organisations. Branches take a part in the life of their local communities.
Members also find time to relax at branch social events with entertaining talks and visits to museums, galleries and the theatre.
Action Briefings are debated at branches throughout the country, and member’s responses are invaluable and have enabled several papers to be produced by the
NCW's committees in reply to Government consultation papers. This work done at grassroots level has a twofold effect. It enables members to express their views and opinions on matters of importance and it helps to further the aims and objectives of our organisation.

Branches can submit resolutions to the national
conference, which if passed, become policy of the NCW. This provides women
with a real chance to have their voice heard on matters or importance to
them. After they have been passed, branches around the country
publicise the content of the resolutions and thereby encourage debate on
important related issues.
Main areas of concern for our members continue, as always, to be health, education,
housing, help for the disadvantaged, food (with particular emphasis on the
British farming and horticultural industries), and law and order. Our members are always seeking up to date information on all topics of concern in order to get a balanced view on controversial matters.
