The Consumer Affairs  group represents the voice of the consumer, ensures that its voice is heard, and that NCW members are aware of developments.

The group has links with the National Consumer Council (NCC) and is represented on a variety of consumer organisations:
   •   NCC Consumer Protection Forum
   •   The Veterinary Medicines Directorate
   •   DEFRA Consumer Committee
   •   DEFRA Foot an Mouth group
   •   SUSTAIN
   •   Farm Animal Welfare Group
   •   Meat Hygiene Forum

Ongoing areas of interest include:
   •   Safety of food and drinks 
   •   Consumer rights, protection and labelling
   •   Packaging of food
   •   School meals, increase in diabetes in children
   •   Financial services and the consumer
   •   Monitoring BSE, GMOs, etc
   •   Mobile phones
   •   Consumer debt 
   •   Childhood obesity
   •   Problems faced by family farmers
