The NCW health special
interest group aims to give information on health care and
to provide an opportunity for women to participate in the
debate on health issues at seminars and, in particular, at
its regular meetings in Birmingham in February, June and
November each year.
Children's health - whose responsibility?
A one-day seminar on maternity services is being planned
for 6 September 2007 in Birmingham. [MORE] The June 2006 conference at Birmingham City Hospital was on

(This seminar had four CPD credits agreed by the Royal
College of Physicians.)
A member of group who represents NCW on the Royal College
of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Consumer Forum gives
reports to the committee on the activities of the College. |
The committee is also doing
follow-up work on three NCW health resolutions - on the
fortification of flour with folic acid, the care of the
elderly, and sudden infant deaths. Other topics addressed
during the year have been family planning, the
'morning-after' pill, respite for carers, the merging of
primary care trusts into larger units, the nutritional
needs of the elderly, the paucity of local pharmacies,
hygiene in hospitals, and avian flu
