      Transport

Transport is an area of interest to everyone as it affects  so many aspects of our lives

Transport issues of current concern are:

 •   the quality of public transport
 •   the personal safety of women travellers
 •   novice drivers
 •   traffic congestion and pollution
 •   long-term local plans which could reduce the need for car journeys

A resolution on the training of novice drivers and restrictions on them after passing the test provided a lively debate at the NCW 2007 annual conference.    [MORE]

Responses have been submitted to the following consultation documents:

 •   Road Traffic Offence Involving Bad Driving
 •   Private hire vehicles,  exterior signage and driver licensing
 •   The SRA report  Railways for all

The latest transport questionnaire asked Branches for information about local transport difficulties and their views on congestion charging and the taxation of aviation fuel.

NCW is represented on:

  •   the DETR’s Women’s Transport Network
  •   Transport 2000 (now Campaign for Better Transport)

If you have any evidence of social exclusion arising from
